Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about an unusual use of QR codes and social responsibility. Sourced from India this is a really interesting case study for a bar called the Turquoise Cottage. They had a very innovative use for QR codes and a great application for social responsibility and promotions of special beverage alcohol products. I really enjoyed the idea and think we shall see more of this in the near future.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about the rise of the Internet in the ’90s, the web has shown no signs of slowing down. We’ve watched the birth and evolution of social media, e-commerce and online video entertainment.
It’s hard to imagine that the treasured websites we all use today were at one point just scribbles on a piece of paper, or the brainchild of a 19-year-old college student. With the help of the Wayback Machine, which provides screenshots of any website imaginable from its inception until now, we’re can view the original designs and content of the most visited websites in the U.S.
Seeing how far the world has come in terms of web design, where do you foresee us heading next? Google, YouTube and Twitter have certainly evolved. Enjoy the walk down memory lane.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about a really unique animated video made by Tom Jenkins. The story is about a lonely desk toy that longs for escape from the dark confines of the office. So, he takes a cross country road trip to the Pacific Coast in the only way he can – using a toy car and Google Maps Street View. It was kind of fun to come across the video as I was checking out my new apartment location in London. I have been moving thru France, Italy & Spain this month and google maps have been indispensible. It makes me wonder how I ever did things in the past. And what the items in my home office are doing as I travel this year.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about what we judged as important last year. Google has the tools to let us tab and know what was important. Interesting how musicians, celebrities, the Casey Anthony trial and Steve Jobs dominated our interests. The video is quite good too, it is a bit broader in its perspectives of 2011 and that we made it. Welcome 2012!
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about a quick summary for the Year on Social Media. The attached link gives us some great stats and updates on social media. Did you know that 11% of the world is on Facebook and we are on it for 700 minutes per month. Twitter has had up to 8900 tweets per second and Ferari only sold 5000 cars last year but has 5.0MM fans. Not sure where 2012 will take us but I sure hope you have an amazing New Year.
Today, The Marketing Chefs would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As a small piece of inspiration, I loved the new eBay – Give a Toy a toy store promotion which brings together charity, mobile apps, ebay and QR codes. It is going to be hard to image what people will think of next. If you are in New York or San Francisco you can see the live store and try giving with your mobile phone. If you are not then the video says it all.
Your Food For Thought Is Here:
Happy holidays and wishing you a prosperous and inspiring week.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about using the internet and your Christmas advertising to engage your consumers. John Lewis is a Uk retailer. They have a wonderful Christmas campaign about gifts you can’ wait to give, but equally fun is their video where children describe what the gift is and as the parent you have to guess. If you get it right you win the gift. Very warm and heartfelt. They have over 3 million views so we know the videos are engaging and getting the kind of response we all want to achieve on and off line. Happy holidays.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about the toasting wine Freixenet and a recent ad campaign created to go viral on You Tube. Martin Scorsese was hired to direct the project and appear in the project. The spot is a remake of an Alfred Hitchcock script and the video result is really quite fun. I enjoyed it as did many others who viewed it however, I am curious if it ever got anyone buying Freixenet. Enjoy the video it is entertaining especially when you understand the plot.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about Nespresso the coffee brand and equipment that was launched in 1988. It has had a 25% annual growth each year and now boasts 6.0MM club members around the world. We have to keep in mind this is only coffee but it has turned our kitchens once again into a cafe. The brand is obviously doing very well as they have George Clooney as their spokesperson with some fun tongue and cheek spots that will get you online for viewing the beautiful stores and also maybe George.
Today, I would like to share with you this week’s marketing tip and it is about how Ikea used a theme of summer solstice to promote their products using a Facebook promotion. What I liked about this video is that it is a great example of how Facebook can be used in advertising and promotions to build your business. Ikea’s results were great in what is a traditionally slow season and the promotion created was simple to follow but interesting enough to keep consumers engaged in the warm weather months. It just shows that you can sell and engage a consumer any time of year, particularly online.
